THE DISEASE OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY
The EAP will address drug
and alcohol dependency. People are “chemically
dependent” if they need drugs or alcohol to help them live their
lives. They do not choose to be dependent, fortunately,
there is treatment available. Find out how to recognize the signs and
symptoms of substance abuse in yourself or someone you love.
THE DISEASE OF ALCOHOLISM
Alcoholism is a chronic, progressive,
potentially fatal disease characterized by tolerance, physical dependence
and organ changes. Learn how alcohol
affects the body and mind, along with treatment options. Find out how
to recognize the signs and symptoms of alcohol abuse in yourself or someone
you love.
ADDICTION
This seminar is an offshoot of substance abuse,
however, focuses on the disease of addiction. How substances effect
the brain synapses and creates a need for more.
Specific drugs will be identified to include: their effects, addiction cycle, and symptoms.
This is beneficial for both supervisors and employees.
DEPRESSION
Learn to understand depression and identify the
signs and symptoms. When
depression occurs, it is usually the result of a combination of factors. Find
out what they are and how depression can be treated.
ALL ABOUT ANXIETY
What is anxiety? How does it make you feel? Learn the physical, mental,
and emotional symptoms of anxiety and what you can do about it. Learn
about the different types of anxiety and how you or a loved one can treat
anxiety.
COPING WITH CHANGE/GRIEF & LOSS
Change of any sort is
often difficult even if it is positive change. Learn
transition strategies for emotional and physical symptoms. Change and
Loss can consume our thoughts and distract us from activities of daily living. Gain
knowledge of the stages of grief to include examples of coping strategies.
COPING/WORKING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE
What causes negative/difficult
people? What are the patterns of difficult
behavior? Learn strategies to identify these behaviors, and what to
do when you are dealing with a difficult person. Difficult people can
be anywhere in our life, so let’s be proactive and learn skills to deal.
STRESS MANAGEMENT
What is stress? It is your body’s physical, mental and chemical
reaction to situations that frighten, excite, confuse, endanger or irritate
you. Gain knowledge of the ways stress manifests itself in your body
and through your actions. Learn effective ways to cope with all types
of stress, good or bad.
HEALTHY BOUNDARIES
Boundaries exist for our protection. Our boundaries are not fixed;
they change with what we feel and the people we are with. Boundaries
ensure that our behavior is appropriate and keep us from offending others. When
we have healthy boundaries we know when we are being abused. Learn how
to develop healthy boundaries and get in touch with your limits.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
One of the biggest differences between
men and women is how they cope with stress.
He feels better by solving problems; she feels better by talking about problems. Learn why men go into their caves, and women want to talk it out. This fun and informational seminar is just what the doctor ordered to learn to relate better to the opposite sex.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Learn strategies to emphasize the important – Eliminate
the unimportant. This seminar can help everyone learn

Gives the employee a full understanding
of the EAP’s functions
and services.
SUPERVISOR TRAINING
Trains supervisors on the appropriate
protocol to refer an employee to the EAP. Seminar goes over when a supervisory referral is necessary. Learn
signs and symptoms to look for in substance abuse employees. Experience
how your referral may actually be helping the employee.
